Teaching brought me back to Oak Ridge in 1967 as an intern for one semester; 27 years later I retired having worked primarily at Robertsville Junior High teaching freshman English.  Retirement gave me the opportunity to pursue activities in the community.  I quickly learned that volunteers are always needed and that volunteering can be very fulfilling.  I joined Altrusa in 2014 and have been delighted to add literacy and various service activities to my agenda.

At present, I serve on the Board of The Free Medical Clinic and the Girls Inc. Board. Girls Inc. is a true passion of mine, having served the group for over 20 years. I am also active in several capacities in my church, First United Methodist of Oak Ridge, Having served for five years as President/co-President of the United Methodist Women. Previously I have volunteered with Contact Careline, the Arts Council of Oak Ridge, YWCA, Oak Ridge Playhouse, and Methodist Medical Center Foundation.
